As Engineers we must focus on selecting a safe, environmentally efficient foundation solution, whilst meeting the Client’s budget expectations. Without this information these objectives cannot be achieved.

Where is the ground water level, or are there pockets of perched water? Are the shallow soils expansive? Are contaminants present which might have a bearing on foundation solution? Are layers of organic soil a concern? Has the site been extensively mined?
